Cash Medical Support

Please note that the legal information presented on this page is written for those living in the state of Illinois.

What Does it Mean?

Cash medical support is a payment to support the cost of medical services for a child covered by Medicaid.

Things You Should Know

A parent is ordered to make cash medical support payments through a legally-binding child support order. The amount owed is calculated based on both parent's income.

Like all child support payments, cash medical support will become past-due if a parent fails to make on-time payments. In Illinois, past-due support grows at a rate of 9% annually.
