Notice of Motion
A notice of motion is a written request to the courts that a issue a specific court order, or a judgement regarding a particular aspect of the case.
Examples of common motions include:
a motion to modify a child support order
a motion to enforce parenting time (visitation rights); or
a motion to appeal a divorce judgement
In order for a notice of motion to be heard by a judge in court, the notice must be personally served to the other party.
Generally speaking, all notices of motions must be filed electronically at the Clerk of Court's website here. However, if you do not own or have access to a computer or printer, you may qualify for a Exemption for E-Filing and file a hand written motion at the Daley Center (50 W. Washington Avenue, Chicago IL 60602) instead.
