Property divisions is the process through which property purchased by two people during their marriage or civil union is divided. This division usually occurs during a divorce or dissolution of civil union.
Any property purchased during the course of a marriage is called marital property (or civil union property). In general, these are the kinds of property that are split up through property divisions. The process of dividing assets requires a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO).
Property divisions are usually ordered through a (marital) settlement agreement.
