Privacy Policy

This website, (the "Site"), is operated on behalf of SAEF Legal Aid ("SAEF," "we," "us," and "our")." Your (“You” and “your” refers to any person using the site) privacy is important to us. It is our policy to protect your Personal Information (as defined below) and to use it only in accordance with this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy governs only our use and disclosure of information collected through this Site. This Privacy Policy does not apply to information we may collect in other forums, such as through email or offline correspondence.

By visiting the Site, you consent to our collection, use, and sharing of personal information about you as described in the Privacy Policy and in our Terms and Conditions of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy or our Terms, please do not use the Site.

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last Updated” date at the bottom, so check back periodically to stay aware of any modifications. Your use of the Site after changes have been posted will constitute your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and any changes.

Automatically Collected Information

We may automatically collect information about your Internet connection, including but not limited to:

  • The name of the Internet domain you used to access the Internet;
  • Name and version of your computer’s operating system and browser;
  • The IP address of your computer and the IP address of the website from which you linked directly to our Site;
  • Search terms entered into search engines to find our Site;
  • The date and time you accessed our Site; and
  • The pages you visited.

This information ("Non-Personal Information") does not identify you personally. We use this Non-Personal Information to monitor the effectiveness of the Site, report website statistics to our funders and patrons, and to consider potential improvements to the Site.

Information Collected Directly

We may collect personal information about you directly from you. If you share information with us when you fill out a “Contact Us” form, for example, we collect the following information:

  • First and last name;
  • Email address, phone number and contact details;
  • Other information related to your request or inquiry.

Use of Personal Information

We use the information you submit as described on our Site. This includes processing donations, registering volunteers, and registering individuals for events and programs. It also includes alerting recipients on our email list of upcoming events, programs, and news so they may stay current on new developments related to SAEF Legal Aid. We may periodically contact you with offers, surveys, and information about our services, legal notices, or other important information.

We may also work with Google to analyze your use of the Site, including the time and duration of your use of the Site or other information about your interaction with our online content. This data will not identify you personally; it is used to help us improve the functionality of the Site.

We do not collect any personally identifying information on our questionnaire designed to connect users with the appropriate legal services.

Making a Donation

When you make an online donation to SAEF Legal Aid, we collect personal data such as your name, billing address, and email address. We collect information about your donation, including the project or program you are donating to and the amount of your donation. We also collect (but do not retain) credit card numbers, which are processed by a third-party payment vendor subject to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards. If you use PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, or a similar service, their use of your information is based on their terms and policies, not ours, so we encourage you to review those policies carefully.

Sharing of Personal Information

We do not ordinarily share your personal information. This may, however, be necessary to register you for events or administer our programs and events. You authorize us to share such information with any business partners co-presenting our programs and events. We may also use trusted third-party service providers or other third-party organizations helping to support our mission by collecting, storing, or sharing personal information on our behalf, such as to complete your donations and other payments you make to SAEF Legal Aid.

By joining our email list, you agree that we may provide to third parties your email address, and other information necessary to register you for SAEF Legal Aid programs, record payments and refunds, and other activities related to your participation in such programs and activities of SAEF Legal Aid.

We may also share your information in the event that it is necessary for any of the following reasons:

  • To protect our rights or property or the safety of our directors, employees, volunteers or others;
  • To comply with any court order, legal process, or respond to any governmental or regulatory request; or,
  • To transfer information in the event of a merger, transfer of assets, or other organizational restructuring.

Use of Cookies

We may use cookies or other tracking technologies when you visit our website or any other platform connected with www.saeflegalaid.org in order to help customize the Site and improve your experience.

A “cookie” is a string of information that assigns you a unique identifier that we store on your computer. Your browser then provides that unique identifier for us to use each time you submit a query to the Site. We may use cookies on the Site to, among other things, keep track of services you have used, record registration information, record your user preferences, keep you logged into the Site, and track the pages you visit. If you opt out of receiving emails about information we think may interest you we may still send you emails about your account or any services you have requested or received from us, if any.

Information Security

SAEF Legal Aid is committed to maintaining your confidence and trust, and we take reasonable security measures to protect your information, including the use of appropriate physical, technical, and administrative controls. However, no security system is impenetrable, and no transmission or electronic storage of information is guaranteed to be secure. We therefore urge you to always use caution when transmitting information over the Internet.

Children's Information

We do not offer or provide products and services for children. If you are under sixteen (16) years of age, you may not use our Site. We do not intend to collect Personal Information from children. If your child has submitted Personal Information and you would like to request that such information be removed, you may contact us via one of the contact methods described on the Site and we will promptly remove such information and shall not use such information. Users under the age of sixteen and their parents or guardians are advised that any Personal Information voluntarily entered by children may be available for public access until SAEF Legal Aid becomes aware that a user is under the age of sixteen and has had a reasonable opportunity to remove the information from the site.

Linked Sites

We may provide links on the Site to other sites of interest or to sites that perform services for us. We do not review or endorse the content of these sites or guarantee that they will abide by this Privacy Policy. Your use of such linked sites is subject to the terms and conditions and privacy policies of the providers of those sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our Site and to read the privacy statements of each Site that collects Personal Information or Credit Card Information.

Prohibition on Selling Data

We do not disclose your personal information to third parties for the third parties’ own direct marketing purposes.
