Rescinding a Voluntary Acknowledgement of Paternity (VAP)

What Does it Mean?

Rescinding a Voluntary Acknowledgement of Paternity (VAP) is the process through which a signed VAP becomes null and void. In other words, VAPs are rescinded only for those who believe they are no longer a child's biological parent.

Things You Should Know

A VAP can only be rescinded within 60 days of its being signed.

Alternatively, a VAP can be rescinded if it has been 60 days since a different court case about the child has started. Qualifying court cases include:
