E-Filing Exemption

What Does it Mean?

Generally speaking, all Illinois court documents must be filed online. However, a Certification for Exemption from E-Filing allows a person to file court paperwork in person (by hand).

Things You Should Know

You may qualify for an E-Filing Exemption if:

  • You do NOT own a computer
  • You do NOT have access to a stable internet connection
  • You have tried to file court documents, but failed do so successfully; or
  • You are unable to read or write in the English language
